Population and agricultural census final results to be published in June 2026

The census of population and agriculture of Georgia will be conducted from November 14 to December 19, said Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of National Statistics Service (GeoStat).

The process will be conducted in two stages: The first stage envisages self-registration on November 14-23, where citizens will fill in questionnaires on the GeoStat web platform without GeoStat involvement.

The second stage will represent door-to-door fieldwork with the involvement of 11 thousand employees from November 29 to December 19. The census will be conducted in mountainous regions and highly-elevated zones in September 2024.

According to Gogita Todradze, demographic data, along with information about agriculture plots, cattle, and poultry, will be collected in villages, territorial units, and municipalities.

All Georgian citizens, as well as foreigners and non-residents, will have to undergo the census. The budget of the census is GEL 29.2 million.

Preliminary results of the population and agricultural census will be published in June 2025, while final results in June 2026.

“The legal basis for conducting the census is the Law of Georgia On Official Statistics of May 31, 2023, the GeoStat regulations and other normative-legal acts,” Gogita Todradze explained.
