Police detain two persons in special operation in Tbilisi

Two persons have been detained as a result of a special operation at Agladze Street, near Megaline Shopping Centre in Tbilisi on charge of money extortion.

Mamuka Chelidze, Head of Organized Crime Department of Central Criminal Police of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), said at a briefing earlier this afternoon.

Investigation determined that the defendants physically and verbally insulted G.S. (DoB 1993), took the photos insulting the dignity and extorted a large amount of money by threatening to kill G.S.’s family members and used these photos to blackmail him.

Police have seized Nagan pistol and drugs as evidence. Chelidze said that investigation is in progress under II Part of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
