Police apprehend opposition leader in Azerbaijan

An opposition politician in Azerbaijan, one of the leaders of the Republican Alternative Party Ilgar Mammadov and his supporters were detained, Azerbaijani journalist Khadija Ismayilova wrote on Facebook.

Republican Alternative Party planned to hold a rally around the CEC building today. The protesters believe the Snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were rigged.

Snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were held on February 9. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) won the elections.
