Georgian poet Zviad Ratiani spoke about the details of detention after leaving the pre-detention isolator.
Ratiani says that he was arrested due to the color of his jacket. According to him, the law enforcers physically assaulted him.
“I was under the influence of alcohol slightly, but it does not matter. It may sound stupid, but they [law enforcers] did not like the color of my jacket”, – Ratiani said. He noted that 8 police officers dressed in civilian clothes physically assaulted him.
According to the lawyer, Ratiani is charged under two articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses – 166 and 173, which implies hooliganism and resistance to police.
Ratiani was released from the detention cell under a subscription today.
As Georgia’s Interior Ministry explains, according to preliminary investigation, possible misconduct from the side of police officer may be determined and the authority of the above-mentioned officer will be suspended before the ending of the investigative activities.
