During the first two quarters, we experienced high economic growth and a significant rate of fiscal consolidation, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the Cabinet meeting.
According to the PM, this progress allows for an increase in the budget.
“In total, we can increase this year’s budget by GEL 519 million. We have already discussed the estimated distribution of this amount. We think that these funds will be allocated as follows: the budget of the Ministry of Health will increase by GEL 115 million, the Ministry of Defence will receive an additional GEL 100 million, GEL 80 million will go to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, the budget of the Ministry of Culture and Sports will increase by GEL 33 million, GEL 10 million will be added to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, GEL 10 million to regional development and infrastructure, GEL 6 million to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, GEL 3 million GEL to the CEC, GEL 60 million to the disaster liquidation budget, and GEL 102 million to municipalities. This is the proposed distribution plan, which we will follow moving forward,” said the Prime Minister.
