PM: Parliament gained legitimacy from Georgian people

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said,“The parliament in no nation needs the opposition’s legitimacy. There would be no democratic system if it were otherwise.”

The PM stressed that “The public, the voters, the Georgian people are the only ones who need to give legitimacy to the country’s parliament.”

“The parliament gained legitimacy from the Georgian people. The Constitution specifies the conditions for the first meeting of the Parliament. We anticipate that Salome Zourabichvili, who is still officially Georgia’s president, will once more breach the Georgia Constitution by failing to call the first meeting of the Parliament. According to the Georgia Constitution, the Parliament of Georgia will convene in this instance on November 25, which is precisely the tenth day following the release of the official election results,” Kobakhidze stated.
