PM: Opposition’s shift in war date aims to create division within society
“I don’t consider the speculations regarding the date of the war’s start to be serious,” said the Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze.
He criticized the radical opposition’s approach, stating that their aim is to divide society.
“You may recall that our political opponents celebrated the date of the war’s start on August 8 for years but then shifted to claiming it began on August 7. This is mere speculation with no basis. The intention is to create division within society. The radical opposition’s approach is to prevent anything from uniting Georgian society, including the date of the war’s start, which is unacceptable to us. For years, the war’s start date has been commemorated on August 8, and this practice continues,” Kobakhidze said.
