“We will see the results in about two or three hours, and they will be severe for the opposition. They lack the dignity to recognize the election results,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia and head of the Georgian Dream election headquarters, during a briefing.
Kobakhidze emphasized that the margin between the Georgian Dream and the collective National Movement would be significant.
“No party or leader has the dignity to accept this defeat. I won’t specify numbers, but the difference will be substantial. It will be hard for them to reconcile with this failure. Their lack of dignity will prevent them from doing so. They lack the resources to win the elections or to mobilize support on the streets. Both require public backing and today, the Georgian people showed up at the polls motivated by their rejection of the radical opposition,” he stated.
In response to a question about the opposition celebrating victories in foreign precincts, Kobakhidze stated that while the opposition may claim success, the low number of voters in those precincts makes any generalization invalid.
“There are four precincts on the eastern side, including Australia and Japan, each with only 40-50 voters. The Georgian Dream previously garnered 30% of the vote abroad, and they won convincingly. Celebrating a win by just 20 votes puts you in a ridiculous position.
In two hours, we will see how many districts the opposition will lose in Georgia. They will lose more than 3,000 districts overall,” Kobakhidze concluded.
