PM: Opposition failed to fill Liberty Square, campaign and election already lost
“The opposition is in the worst situation. They don’t campaign, don’t visit villages or cities, and can’t hold meetings,” the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze remarked.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze claimed that during yesterday’s rally, Liberty Square was not filled, despite efforts by multiple opposition parties and allies to gather support. Kobakhidze suggested that old rally footage was broadcast to cover up the low attendance.
“Everyone—opposition parties, NGOs, and even Salome Zourabichvili —came together but failed to fill Liberty Square. To mask this failure, they aired old footage, including clips from our previous events,” Kobakhidze noted.
He further argued that the inability to fill Liberty Square reflects the opposition’s declining chances in the upcoming elections. “When you can’t fill a location for your rally, it means the campaign has failed, and with it, the election is already lost,” the Prime Minister concluded.
