How can I respond to this without smiling – Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated in response to a question concerning the statement issued by Prosecutor’s Office, according to which the forensic examination of the letter received by Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, Leaders of “Lelo for Georgia” movement, showed that the fingerprints on the letter do not belong to Giorgi Gakharia.

As the head of the government noted, for him, the most important thing in this joke of a story was to fulfill his obligation to cooperate with the investigation, which he did.

“Do you watch Artarea? Watch Artarea and you will realize that its degree of objectivity really has increased. How can I respond to this without smiling? The main and most important thing for me in this joke of a story was my obligation, as an ordinary citizen of Georgia, to cooperate with the investigation and I have fulfilled this obligation, just as others must do,” the Prime Minister stated.

The General Prosecutor’s Office, which leads an investigation into possible menacing of Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, General Secretary of “Lelo for Georgia,” co-founder of TBC Bank, received the conclusion.

Khazaradze said during his speech delivered at the parliamentary Finance-Budgetary Committee on March 4 of 2019 that he had received a menacing letter from Gakharia, who then served as Minister of Internal Affairs, ahead of the second round of 2018 presidential elections.

Khazaradze presented a copy of the letter in the parliament. He claimed that the original of the letter had been sent to the UK. The letter was submitted to General Prosecutor’s Office on October 21 of 2019 with the materials of the British private company, and was later examined at Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau.
