PM: Crime committed by Saakashvili and UNM in 2008 must be investigated
“The legal approach may vary, but the key point is that the crime committed by Saakashvili [Georgia’s ex-president] and the United National Movement regime in 2008 needs to be thoroughly investigated,” stated Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at Mukhatgverdi Brothers Cemetery, where he paid tribute to those who died during the August 2008 war.
He emphasized that the public will be informed about the details.
“The legal approach might differ—it could involve an appeal to the prosecutor’s office, the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission, or a request to the Constitutional Court. All available instruments will be utilized. The important thing is that the 2008 crime must be fully investigated,” the Prime Minister said.
