PM: Impossible to talk about restoring diplomatic relations with Russia under occupation
“It is impossible to talk about restoring diplomatic relations with Russia under the conditions of occupation,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze stated in an interview with Rustavi 2.
According to the PM, “If Georgia’s territorial integrity is restored, then restoring diplomatic relations with Russia would be logical.”
“We have our principles. The protection of national interests should be based on certain principles. Aside from that, it is legally impossible for us to discuss re-establishing diplomatic relations with Russia while under occupation.
The primary obstacle is occupation. Of course, if we put aside the occupation, we can talk about everything.
The issue of territorial integrity is a red line for us,” the Prime Minister stated.
