Giorgi Gakharia, Georgian Prime Minister held a meeting with Derek Mitchell, President of National Democratic Institute (NDI) and NDI pre-election monitoring mission representatives in online conference format.
Press Service of Prime Minister reports that the sides talked about the pre-election environment in Georgia in preparation for the 2020 parliamentary elections.
Focus was placed on reforms carried out by the government with purpose of improvement of election legislation and recently made Constitutional Changes.
Head of the Georgian government reaffirmed the government’s readiness to ensure holding of elections in line with high democratic standards.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues related to the struggle against language of hatred and misinformation.
PM said that different international election observation missions would have the chance to monitor the election process.
