PM: Gov't committed to using qualifications, knowledge, experience of our compatriots abroad

“In our vision and policy, we are committed to using the qualifications, knowledge, and experience accumulated by our compatriots living abroad, including young people, for the benefit of the country,” said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during his speech at the Diaspora Day forum.

As the head of the government noted, “Several initiatives are being put into place to take advantage of this priceless human resource, contacts, and expertise for the further advancement and development of our shared homeland. ”

“At the upcoming session, the Georgian government will table a package of revisions to the law ‘On Compatriots Residing Abroad and Diaspora Organisations’ to the Georgian Parliament.

Considering the enormous challenges and opportunities that today’s changing environment can produce, our task is to ensure that the diaspora can participate smoothly in the country’s development.

The draft law is being produced in collaboration with the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration, and Development, a major academic institute. It follows best worldwide practices,” the Prime Minister asserted.
