PM: Georgia grateful to EC for support

“We are grateful for the support and excited to continue our journey towards EU’s full-fledged membership,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

“The European Commission has released a positive assessment and recommended Georgia for well-deserved EU Candidate Status. We’re grateful for the support and excited to continue our journey towards full-fledged membership,” he tweeted.

The European Commission (EC) will recommend the European Council to grant candidate status to Georgia, said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, at the briefing jointly held with Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.

The European Council will make the final decision in December.
