“Elections in Georgia cannot be financed with foreign money,” said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, on Friday, noting that “this contradicts the principle of state sovereignty and the universally recognized election principle.”
The PM was asked about EECMD leader Levan Tsutskiridze who founded a political organization [Strong Georgia] and joined Lelo before the elections.
“You also know that authoritarianism festivals were funded by this organization [EECMD] with Danish funding, which is a concerning development.
Foreign money cannot be involved in the Georgian election campaign in such a direct and unpleasant manner. This is incorrect.
I hope that all this will be reflected in the relevant observational reports. We will see, we will wait”, Kobakhidze added.
