PM – Economy and tourism, or education and culture cannot be developed without security
The number one challenge of Georgia’s security is the occupation and it is especially painful and acute for locals residing across the occupational line – Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said during the sitting of the National Security Council.
Gakharia stressed on the importance of coordinated work with respect to security. “Provision of security is an important function especially with respect to coordination. Security of the country is critically important. Economy and tourism, or education and culture cannot be developed without security and talking about tomorrow will be merely conditional,” Gakharia said. Prime Minister also named cybersecurity as one of the main challenges facing the country.
The first sitting of National Security Council headed by Prime Minister was held at the Governmental Administration earlier this afternoon.
Levan Izoria, Head of the Intelligence Service was assigned the function of Secretary of National Security Council. Prime Minister instructed Izoria to elaborate the country’s National Security Concept, which will also serve as the long-term action plan for state institutions.
