PM: Any individual may buy ticket for 100 €, fly to Europe to return even on following day. GD did it!
“Any individual may buy a ticket for a hundred euros and fly to Europe to return on the following day. Who did it, my friends? The Georgian Dream did! It was done by Bidzina Ivanishvili and his team!” It was stated by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia during his studio interview aired on Imedi TV.
As the Head of Government of Georgia noted, Bidzina Ivanishvili returned Georgia to the track of democratic development.
“As for the idea of Europe at large, I wish to once again explain primarily to our youth by addressing them. My children, my sisters and brothers, let us recall how the tangible progress of our country started on the path of European integration at large. Who brought the real progress? Saakashvili? Definitely not! Because Saakashvili by essence was one of the anti-European with his style of governance. He was a mad dictator, who governed our country with brutal, cruel methods. He tortured and killed people, including the youth. He had 300 000 people litigated. His team members were Merabishvili – the Killer, Akhalaya brothers – the Torturers, along with Megis Kardava and Kezerashvili – the Racketeer. Today the same people are obstructing the peace of our country, security of our citizens and our children, our European future at large.
Now, let me return to the events of 2012. Bidzina Ivanishvili came to power that year and brought the Georgian Dream. We all know what his deeds were prior to that. I will not focus your attention on them. This man spent 3 billion from his pocket and did a lot of great things for our country. In a real sense, he returned the country back to the track of democratic development. You may well remember that Georgia was off-track entirely. You may also remember that the main idea of Saakashvili was not the acceleration of integration with Europe. Let me remind you that we started work on the EU-Georgia Association Agreement with a three year delay. Why? They had the process deferred. The same applies to the visa-free travel arrangement. We started it. We were handed it over. I was a Minister of Interior at that time and I was handed over this very action plan for visa liberalization. This is what the Georgian Dream did on the path of European integration. When they say that they want Europe, don’t we all want Europe? Let us remind the society and our youth, who signed the EU-Georgia Association Agreement. I did, on behalf of the Georgian Dream. Who signed the DCFTA to make sure that our citizens, entrepreneurs export their produce to Europe without any taxes, fees or customs duties? Prior to that, you may remember the long queues at consulates. I know about a lot of cases of disgraceful treatment at consulates. Visas were not granted and no trust was demonstrated towards our citizens. Our team did it all, my dear brothers and sisters, my children and friends. Our team managed to have the country recognized as a credible partner. When did it happen? On December 17, 2015 – when eventually under my leadership – being the Prime Minister of the country for the first time – all the commitments were met and the country started to enjoy the visa-free travel arrangement in Europe. Not only the elite – Saakashvili’s elite or other affluent ones, but regular citizens can now buy a ticket for a hundred euros and fly to Europe to return even on the following day. Who did it, my dear friends? The Georgian Dream did! It was done by Bidzina Ivanishvili and his team,” concluded Prime Minister.
