People's Power: Senator convicted as Foreign Agent concerned about Georgia's democratic backsliding

“The U.S. Senator convicted as Foreign Agent, was concerned about Georgia’s democratic backsliding,” said Guram Macharashvili, a member of the People’s Power party.

According to Macharashvili, all Senators, Congressmen and MEPs who made unfair statements were convicted or charged with bribery, corruption or other crimes.

“Any unfair statement that will be made about Georgia will backfire on everyone, as in this case. Peace wins over war, tradition wins over LGBT propaganda, and sovereignty wins over slavery,” he said.

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez was convicted on Tuesday on all 16 criminal counts he faced, including bribery, at his corruption trial in Manhattan federal court, completing the once-powerful New Jersey Democrats’ dramatic downfall.

The analytic forum Just Security described the case as the First ‘Foreign Agent’ Conviction of a U.S. Senator.
