People's Power MP says referendum initiative confirms President's ignorance besides her being traitor, agent

“President Salome Zourabichvili’s ignorance was confirmed along with her being a traitor and an agent, and there was no unity with the opposition since her initiative was disapproved within one hour,” said Guram Macharashvili, People’s Power party MP.

According to Macharashvili, a referendum cannot be held until Georgia’s territorial integrity is restored.

“The President proposes holding a referendum to society on the issue, which is already defined both among people and in the Constitution. Does she want to question the inscription? Of course, due to her logic, she will not get a signature from the Prime Minister, and no referendum will be held.

She probably did not know or know partially, but we know she is very ambitious and had to take action. She wanted to employ youngsters by asking them to get armed with pens and papers, write and come to her. It is yet another unserious move on her part toward the country,” Macharashvili said.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili stated on May 28 that a referendum should be held in Georgia on whether Georgia wants a European or Russian future.
