People's Power describes EP resolution as futile, claims it fuels mobilization for peace and development
“The resolution proposed by the European Parliament is ultimately futile and, paradoxically, serves to mobilize Georgian citizens in support of peace and development,” stated Eka Sepashvili, the International Relations Secretary of the People’s Power party.
According to Sepashvili, foreign actors are grossly interfering in Georgia’s internal affairs and acting as a lifeline for the opposition.
“They attempt to blackmail and intimidate Georgian society, but their efforts have been unsuccessful. The people understand that they must choose a path toward peace and stability. We remember many similar resolutions predicated on misinformation, which have been shameful blemishes on their record.
Should this resolution be signed, it would represent a disgraceful stain in their history. The European Commission has published a report indicating that Georgia ranks 32nd in democratic progress. Certain individual politicians who make negative assessments are being bribed by the United National Movement and are merely following the directives of a global war party.
These actors are carrying out the demands of foreign entities that disregard Georgia’s national interests and are intent on dragging the country into conflict. This resolution is futile and, conversely, serves to galvanize Georgian citizens in support of peace and development,” she concluded.
