Patriarch leads in public figures rating per IRI survey

The International Republican Institute (IRI) published the 2023 National Public Opinion Survey of Georgian Residents.

The survey included questions on the favorability of respondents for public figures and institutions.

Patriarch Ilia II leads in the rating with 91%, followed by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze with 52%, President Salome Zourabichvili with 48% and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with 43%.

For Georgia party leader Giorgi Gakharia and ex-president and the UNM former leader Mikheil Saakashvili received 36% each, Bidzina Ivanishvili, former PM and founder of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party is favourable for 35% of respondents.

As for the institutions, the respondents answered as follows: Georgian army – 77%, the Patriarchate of Georgia – 72%, and the Police – 63%.

The Institute of Polling & Marketing (IPM) carried out the fieldwork. The data was collected throughout Georgia between March 4 and 23, 2023, through CAPI-administered face-to-face interviews in respondents’ homes. The representative sample comprised 1,500 permanent residents of Georgia aged 18 and older and eligible to vote. The response rate was 63 per cent. The margin of error does not exceed ±2.5%.
