Parliament's Bureau to initiate legislative changes to write off pandemic-linked penalties
The Parliament’s Bureau will initiate legislative changes on Monday aiming to write off penalties issued to citizens for breaching the rules during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The amendments will apply to the laws “On Exemption from Administrative Penalties” and “On Amnesty,” annulling the penalties issued between June 23, 2021, and July 4, 2023.
Persons fined for violating the rule of isolation and quarantine, as well as the mask-wearing rule, will be exempt from penalty charges.
According to the government, the penalties will be waived from 1855 individuals and 38 corporates. The total amount of penalties waived will reach 5.6 million GEL (for natural persons – 5,346,047 GEL, for legal entities – 250,000 GEL).
As for the amendments to the Law on Amnesty, five individuals will be exempt from a 2,000 GEL fine.
