Parliamentary delegation participates in inter-parliamentary conference on EU security and defence
The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Maka Botchorishvili, Chair of the European Integration Committee, participated in the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) inter-parliamentary conference in Budapest on September 9-10.
During the conference, discussions focused on the future of the EU, enlargement policies, external border protection, illegal migration, and the geopolitical impact of Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
Botchorishvili highlighted Georgia’s progress in European integration and the need for timely negotiations with candidate countries.
“Since the introduction of the visa-free regime, the government of Georgia has introduced a number of measures to meet the challenges that we are facing in different aspects. So, we adopted the strategy for integrated borders management, and the unified risk analysis systems were established in Georgia,” Khatia Tsilosani, the Defence and Security Committee member, emphasized.
The event, hosted by the EU Presidency in Hungary, brought together members of national parliaments and EU institutions to discuss key policy issues.
