Parliament Speaker says journalists contribute to democracy strengthening
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili congratulated journalists on World Press Freedom Day, observed on May 3.
As Papuashvili said, timely and accurate information distribution serves to inform a healthy society and the country’s progress.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, the government of Georgian Dream managed to “establish free media in Georgia and allowed the profession of a journalist to develop decently.”
“I congratulate all journalists and people involved in the media on World Press Freedom Day; those who conscientiously serve their profession, the country and contribute to Georgian democracy strengthening,” Papuashvili wrote.
Celebrated every May 3, this year’s theme for World Press Freedom Day is “Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a Driver for all other human rights,” signifying the enabling element of freedom of expression to enjoy and protect all other human rights.
