Parliament Speaker: No one has right to override Georgian people's will
“No one has the right to override the will of the Georgian people. We witnessed an attempt to do exactly that at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, speaking live on Imedi TV.
Papuashvili responded to the recent decisions made by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
“Our delegation at the Assembly has been vocal in urging our colleagues to be objective and fair toward the Georgian people and our country, emphasizing that there are red lines that must not be crossed. Specifically, no one has the authority to negate the will of the Georgian people. We clearly observed this attempt at the Parliamentary Assembly.
We know that this was an initiative put forward within the framework of the European People’s Party, in which the Georgian traitor opposition and the Ukrainian delegation were involved. Let me remind you that the European People’s Party is composed of individuals who would place Mikheil Saakashvili’s empty chair at their conference to support a torturer.
This same Ukrainian delegation, led by Goncharenko, sought to use us as cannon fodder—calling on us to enter the conflict and suggesting that we shift Russia’s focus from Ukraine to Georgia, fighting the battle here instead.
This betrayal extends to the opposition that aligned itself with such initiatives. Consequently, an anti-Georgian coalition has formed,” stressed the Chairman of Parliament.
