Parliament Speaker: It is high time for EU to show that it sees its future with Georgia

Georgia made huge progress legislatively and institutionally to get closer to the European Union, said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili in his speech at the event dedicated to Europe Days.

According to the Speaker, Georgian people, with their words, emotions and behavior proved that Georgia is a valuable and responsible partner of the EU.

He noted that Georgia continues to work to enhance the achievements and make the benefits more accessible for Georgian citizens.

Shalva Papuashvili remarked that the following months would have special significance to provide “solid basis” for taking further steps on the EU accession.

“We expect that subsequent assessments and relevant decisions will be fair, taking into account Georgia’s progress and the broader geopolitical context. Now it the turn of not only Georgia but also the European Union.

It is high time for the European Union to demonstrate to Georgia, both in words and actions, that the European Union sees its future together with Georgia. Georgia is Europe,” he said.
