Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee has established five working groups to address the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Council (EC). The groups will work on de-oligarchization, judicial reform, the electoral code, the creation of the Anti-Corruption Agency, and the institutional strengthening of the Special Investigation Service and the Personal Data Protection Service.
Anri Okhanashvili, Legal Affairs Committee Chair, stated that Committee enters an intensive work process to implement EU recommendations.
Okhanashvili will head the working groups on de-oligarchization, judicial reform, the creation of the Anti-Corruption Agency, and the institutional strengthening of the Special Investigation Service and the Personal Data Protection Service. Givi Mikanadze, deputy chair of the GD faction, will lead the group working on Electoral Code.
MPs from Citizens, European Socialists and Girchi opposition parties will participate in the activities of the working groups.
European Council decided on June 23 to grant EU candidate status to Georgia once the priorities outlined in the 12-point recommendations are addressed.
