Parliament overrides President’s veto on Constitutional Changes

The Parliament of Georgia has overridden the President’s veto on the constitutional changes bill.

The parliamentary majority did not support the motivated remarks submitted by president. The discussion lasted during 6 hours at the extraordinary session today.

110 MPs voted against 6-point motivated remarks. After that, the primary edition of the constitutional amendments was presented and it was approved by the parliamentary majority with 117 votes, against 7.

The members of the National Movement Party did not participate in the voting. Opposition members left the parliament hall in protest.

Before voting, Ana Dolidze, President’s Parliamentary Secretary introduced the motivated remarks to MPs.
