Papuashvili: President Zourabichvili raised herself above Georgian people
“Zourabichvili has claimed that the president should be with the people, but from a higher perspective. I believe she has raised herself above the Georgian people,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament.
He expressed concern that Salome Zourabichvili’s Georgian Charter and its signatories will be remembered in Georgian history with shame.
“The individual who drafted and endorsed the presidential charter referred to Georgia as a ‘Banana Republic,’ a country incapable of electing a government to serve a full constitutional term of four years. Madam Zourabichvili even declared those who signed the text as politically uncultured while simultaneously calling us uncultured. If you cannot unite and govern the country, you should not remain in office for more than a year.
Madam Zourabichvili claims the president should be with the people, but from a higher perspective. However, I believe she has elevated herself above us, looking down on the Georgian people, considering Georgia a failed country and the Georgian people a failed nation. This is disgraceful. This charter will be remembered as one of the most shameful chapters in Georgia’s history, and all who signed it will be forever known as the individuals who labelled our nation as a ‘Banana Republic,’ unable to elect its own government for the constitutionally mandated term,” Papuashvili added.
