Former Public Defender of Georgia Nino Lomjaria and Giorgi Mshvenieradze, chairman of the NGO Guardians of Democracy, have called on participants of today’s march to sing the European Union anthem in Georgian.
Mshvenieradze encouraged supporters to ‘practice’ singing before the event: “Today, on Freedom Square, we will sing the European anthem in Georgian. You can train before the march!” he wrote on social media.
Lomjaria also urged people to prepare: “Until 19:00, let’s repeat the anthem of the European Union in Georgian,” she posted on Facebook.
The Georgia Chooses the European Union march is set to take place in Tbilisi today. Organizers announced that participants will gather at five different locations throughout the city and proceed toward Liberty Square, where the final event will be held.
