Opposition MP proposes to define status of Georgian fighters in Ukraine
At Tuesday’s plenary session, For Georgia MP Aleksandre Motserelia proposed establishing a special status for Georgian warriors in Ukraine, stating the government should take care of their family members.
“These soldiers fight today in Ukraine against occupants. They fight for a better tomorrow, for Georgia, and for the ideas that claimed the lives of Zviad Gamsakhurdia and Merab Kostava (first president and late national hero),” he said.
“They fight for the country’s membership in the EU and NATO because we have never been so close to restoring territorial integrity.”
Twenty Georgian fighters were killed in the Russia-Ukraine war.
