One person detained for assaulting Jehovah's Witness

The officers of the patrol police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of investigative activities, detained G.I. (born in 1992) for the persecution of Jehovah’s Witness on a religious basis.

According to the MIA, the investigation found that G.I. verbally and physically assaulted O.A. (born in 1954) as a result of conflict raised on the religious basis at Pataridze Street in Tbilisi.

The investigation is in progress under the article 156, part II, sub-paragraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (Persecution of persons because of their speech, opinion, conscience, confession, faith or creed, or political, social, professional, religious or scientific activities).
