One person detained on charge of swindling

The officers of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance detained the head of one company on the fact of swindling scheme carried out by a criminal group.

The investigation found that the defendant, together with his accomplice, developed a plan, according to which, his company was allegedly organizing a concert of famous musician Chris Rea in Tbilisi on December 30, 2017 within the musician ’s World Tour.

According to the Investigation Service, the defendant formally signed a contract with one of the concert halls and an online ticket selling company. He also conducted an active campaign for the concert. As a result, the defendant sold 2 727 tickets, the total cost of which amounted to 152 850 GEL.

The investigation also revealed that Chris Rea’s World Tour was completed in December 12, 2017, and within the tour, concert in Georgia had not been planned.

The defendant faces 7-10 years in jail if convicted.
