Ninotsminda Boarding School Head and Public Defender meet at Patriarchate University
A meeting between the Head of the Ninotsminda Boarding School, Archbishop Iakob and Georgian Public Defender Nino Lomjaria is underway at the St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University of the Georgian Patriarchate.
The meeting will address the issues related to the Ninotsminda boarding house.
Archbishop Iakob expressed readiness to meet with the Public Defender in Tbilisi yesterday. Nino Lomjaria agreed. None of the parties commented to the media so far.
Public Defender recently reported alleged crimes and inhuman treatment against children at the Ninotsminda Boarding School.
Former orphanage supervisor Bishop Spiridon denied the Public Defender’s Office to carry out a monitoring visit that caused much anxiety in the society. The investigation is underway.
The Georgian Patriarchate appointed Archbishop Iakob (Konstantine Iakobashvili) of Bodbe to supervise this foster home on June 14. The newly-appointed head told reporters that Bishop Spiridon quit on his own decision.
