Nika Melia dismissed from courtroom after calling judge 'Chinchaladze's slave'

The Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party Nika Melia remains in custody. At today’s trial, a restraining order against Melia has been upheld.

Tbilisi City Court judge Nino Chakhnashvili dismissed Nika Melia from the courtroom as Melia called her ‘Chinchaladze’s slave’ (Mikheil Chinchaladze, chairman of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals).

The next trial is scheduled for April 29.

Tbilisi City Court ruled imprisonment for Nika Melia, United National Movement (UNM) party Chairman, this February. Melia has been accused of organizing mass violence during anti-government protests in 2019. UNM leader denies the charges. Melia was arrested on February 23.
