Nika Gvaramia, General Director of Main Channel said that he had obtained the information about the attempt of possible liquidation of journalist Giorgi Gabunia from a high-ranking official of State Security Service.

Gvaramia said that he could not notify the Security Service about the fact since the information was not verified and fully trustworthy and was obtained unofficially.

Also, according to Gvaramia, he obtained the information several weeks before the special operation. He added that Gabunia was under surveillance for a long time and the detained man Vasambek Bokov was likely to have the accomplices.

“Vasambek Bokov is not a killer, he is a member of group studying the routes, and his accomplices may be citizens of Georgia,” Gvaramia said.

On June 15, State Security Service arrested Vasambek Bokov, born in Ingushetia, within the framework of investigation of a criminal case launched into the fact of preparation of murder by contract and urged everyone to refrain from disseminating unconfirmed information.

Also on June 15, Nika Gvaramia, General Director of Main Channel said that liquidation of journalist Giorgi Gabunia was plotted at the order of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov.
