The Georgian parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee passed a new law on public procurement in its first reading on Friday.
The new law, according to Levan Razmadze, chair of the State Procurement Agency, would govern defence and security issues.
The professionals will be required to be certified. The bill stipulates that no application to the agency would be required if the value of the to-be-purchased commodities or services is less than GEL 100,000.
Amending the law aims to make the business climate more flexible and to ensure that the best bid always wins in a public tender.
