Netherlands' PM: Full support commission's enlargement package proposals, including those regarding Georgia
We support, basically, every proposal the commission has made in terms of the enlargement package for this European Council, including on Georgia, stated the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, ahead of the EU Summit in Brussels.
“We support, basically, every proposal the commission has made in terms of the enlargement package for this European Council, including on Georgia. I will work very hard, and my colleagues will work very hard to get to a consensus both on enlargement, next steps, but also on the 50 billion because both are crucial,” he remarked.
The European Council will meet in Brussels on December 14-15 to discuss the enlargement package, which involves ten countries. Among the key considerations are granting Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership, initiating membership negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, and the EU perspective of the Western Balkans.
