Georgia ranks 11th in Europe in terms of Covid-19 testing per 100,000 inhabitants, reads the report One Year with Covid-19 published by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).
Based on the report, the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted in 2020 stands at 1 957 395 or 52 662 tests per 100 thousand inhabitants.
Luxembourg, Denmark, and Cyprus are among the top three countries. Georgia is ahead of Norway, Italy, Switzerland, and Finland.
The rate of positivity in testing was 11, 6% as of December 31, 2020.
According to the NCDC report, coronavirus effective reproduction index (Rt) decreased to 0.62 in Georgia.
Rt is a key epidemic parameter used to assess whether an epidemic is growing. It is the average number of people who become infected by a contagious person. If Rt is above 1.0, the virus will spread quickly. When Rt is below 1.0, the virus will stop spreading.
