The opposition National Movement will elaborate a rule to elect the party chairperson. A working group staffed by “politically neutral persons” will have the rule ready by November 22, a member of the party Giorgi Baramidze said.
“We are interested in holding elections in the nearest future but not hastily leaving no floor to questions about the chairman’s legitimacy,” Baramidze said.
Bramidze added that the main purpose was to transfer ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili abroad for medical treatment to save his life. Another goal was to free Mtavari Arkhi Director Nika Gvaramia and other political prisoners.
“However, the key objective is to separate the acting pro-Putin regime from the power peacefully through the elections. Members of the National Movement should act with this responsibility,” he said.
