National Food Agency searches for teenager scratched by rabid dog

The National Food Agency is looking for a teenager scratched by a dog near the Gulf gas station on the Kakheti highway, close to the cosmonaut monument. The agency has reported that the dog has died and was confirmed to have rabies based on laboratory examination.

“The National Food Agency received a message on December 18, after the dog died. The animal’s pathological material was immediately sent to the laboratory, and the results confirmed rabies.

According to the agency, the notification author has no identifying or contact information for the teenager or his parents. It is also unknown whether the teenager received the required rabies vaccination.

The National Food Agency has informed all relevant departments of the incident and at the same time calls on the parents of the teenager to respond and vaccinate the child immediately,” said a statement issued by the National Food Agency.
