Mutso village-fortress in the historic Khevsureti region of Georgia received Public Choice Award, while Mutso’s Rehabilitation Project – the award of Europa Nostra at the 2019 European Cultural Heritage Summit in Paris on October 29.
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili attended the awarding ceremony and received Georgia’s award together with Nikoloz Antidze, Head of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia.
The rehabilitation project of Mutso village-fortress was named among the 27 winner projects at the summit. The project was selected by the competent jury from 149 applications submitted from 34 countries.
The National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia presented the project in 2018. The project was carried out in 2014-2018 with the financing of the Georgian government and Kartu Fund.
Mutso rehabilitation project was presented as the nominee of the competition at the European Cultural Heritage Summit in Paris on October 28.
The 2019 European Cultural Heritage Summit in Paris is being held under the Patronage of Emmanuel Macron, President of France.
