MP Sepashvili: Opposition seeks to incite bloody revolution in Georgia
Seemingly peaceful demonstrations against transparency have gradually devolved into violence and vandalism, stated Eka Sepashvili, the People’s Power party member.
She argues that the radical opposition and coordinators of the related rallies, as they had previously announced, are trying to intensify this violent tension and create potentially fatal outcomes.
“This intention was declared even before the start of the protests, and Tchiaberashvili has now directly stated that they are expecting casualties. It seems they want a sacrifice at these rallies to escalate the revolutionary fervour they have organized and incited, aiming to instigate a bloody revolution in Georgia. This is their ultimate goal,” Sefashvili stated.
The MP further claimed that the opposition is aware they are unlikely to win elections under any circumstances.
“Their peaceful revolution failed because the majority of the people support European values and transparency. Their violent actions as a political minority have not succeeded in organizing a revolution, leading them to try and provoke casualties and deadly consequences to fuel their cause.
I’m confident that citizens would avoid falling into such provocations and demonstrate maximum caution to protect the country’s sovereignty. The goal of the opposition is not merely revolution but a coup that would bring to power forces willing to involve Georgia in war, risking the complete disappearance of the country,” she declared.
Zurab Tchiaberashvili, a member of the United National Movement, stated during the Formula TV program: “We are crossing a very fragile line if there is a fatal accident of any kind, no one knows what form the events in our country will take.”
