MP Botchorishvili: Opposition calls for 'international mechanism’ to oust GD, label over million voters as ‘Russian’
“Groups acting on behalf of the opposition and their instigators are demanding that an ‘international’ mechanism be invented that would force the Georgian Dream to hand over power to them. In return, it has been suggested that over a million Georgian citizens would be labelled as ‘Russian’ and subjected to punishment as a warning to others,” Maka Botchorishvili, chair of the Georgian Parliament’s European Integration Committee, wrote on social media.
“”Groups representing the opposition in Georgia and their supporters are calling for an urgent creation of an ‘international’ mechanism to compel the Georgian Dream party, elected by the Georgian people, to hand over power to them—without public backing, election oversight, or proof of election fairness. In return, they propose such a democracy where over a million Georgian citizens who dared to vote for 41 would be labelled as ‘Russian’ and punished as a warning to others. They believe this will establish a new beacon of democracy from the Caucasus mountains. If common sense prevails anywhere, these individuals need help,” Botchorishvili stated.
