“It is incredible why the protection of family values is perceived as conflicting with human rights. There is nothing discriminatory in the law adopted by Parliament,” stated Maka Botchorishvili, the parliamentary majority member and the European Integration Committee Chair.
She emphasized that the Law on Family Values and Protection of Minors aligns with the Constitution of Georgia.
“It is astonishing that the family values protection is perceived as contradicting human rights. This law is not discriminatory and does not violate anti-discrimination laws. Most importantly, it does not conflict with the Constitution of Georgia, which has always been, and will continue to be, the primary guarantor of human rights protection in our country,” Botchorishvili added.
