Moscow hopes to maintain recent “channel of dialogue” with Tbilisi after Karasin's retirement
Russia hopes to maintain a dialogue with Georgian Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze after Grigory Karasin’s dismissal as Russian deputy foreign minister, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
“This matter is currently being resolved. I hope that this channel of dialogue will be preserved in this or that form,” Rudenko said.
Georgian and Russia cut diplomatic relations after the 2008 August war. Since that time, the two countries maintain a dialogue within Geneva International Discussions and Abashidze-Karasin talks.
Grigory Karasin has retired as Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and become the member of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament.
