Moldova holds local elections

Local elections are being held in Moldova to elect nearly 900 mayors and 11,000 local councillors for a four-year term.

About 1,958 polling stations opened at 07:00 local time and will close at 21:00.

Around 1,500 national and international observers will monitor the ballot.
