Ministry of Internal Affairs made a statement on Zviad Ratiani's case
Ministry of Internal Affairs made a statement in connection with the case of Zviad Ratiani. A special briefing was held in that regard.
As Natia Mezvrishvili, the deputy Minister of Internal Affairs noted the Law enforcers stopped Zviad Ratiani within the police control activities.
Deputy Minister claims that video footage of the incident exists, however she noted that material is hard to watch and the agency is ready to get Ratiani acquainted with the materials.
“Because of high public interest, we would like to provide the public with the information about Zviad Ratiani’s case.
Zviad Ratiani said that several people dressed in civil form approached him. However, the material reflects that law enforcers were dressed in police form, and they stopped Ratiani within the police control activities.
The material also shows that Zviad Ratiani was under the influence of alcohol and unable to control his behavior and expressions, acted aggressively, resisted and insulted the law enforcers” , – Natia Mezvrishvili said.
According to Deputy Minister, protocol against Ratiani have been drawn up under two articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses – 166 (hooliganism) and 173 (resistance to police). She noted that the Prosecutor’s Office has already launched an investigation based on the allegations voiced by Zviad Ratiani and the General Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs started studying the case.
