Mike Pompeo: With respect to Georgia we are working actively on its accession to NATO
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was listened before the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
U.S. Secretary of State answered the questions of congressmen. Some questions referred to Georgia as well.
“We are concerned about Russia’s aggression, beginning in Moldova, then in the republic of Georgia and then 10,000 people were killed in Ukraine. What more can we do to work with our allies and provide them with proper equipment, particularly these three nations I’ve mentioned, to stop the aggression of Putin’s regime? – Congressman Joe Wilson asked this question.
I do not know the details of armament issues with respect to those three countries. I’m happy to take a look at it. We had a dialogue with the Prime Minister of Georgia within the Strategic Partnership hosted at the State Department this week. We can make clear with respect to Georgia that we are working actively together on its accession to NATO. This is the king of things that can support the people of those countries in a right way. Last year we also made a decision to provide Ukrainians with defensive weapons. Much works remains to promote the former Soviet entities who run on a path toward the western world”, – Mike Pompeo answered.
